Today was a great day as Mom got to spend the whole day at home! She arrived home at about 10:30 "This is nice," she kept repeating. Mom and Dad were like two kids on a date. It seemed like almost everytime I left the room to go get something or do something, I would hear Dad say, "I love you."
Just the little things were so delightful: eating around the kitchen table, reading the newspaper in the living room, listening to "elevator music", snuggling up in a blanket and just having her at home. I told Mom if she didn't improve one smidgeon more, we are tickled to have her just as she is. It was so wonderful having her there.
It was a learning day, too. Dad had it all under control - directing and handling all the transfers from here to there. We were a bit wobbly every now but as the day went on, it seemed like things got a little easier.
I thought it would be really hard sending Mom back to the hospital but it dawned on me that this was just another step in getting her home for good! One visit by therapist to assess any need for equipment and then Mom will hopefully come home for good!
Keep prayin' and we'll be celebrating when Mom comes home for good!

How wonderful to see LaDonna home with her loving family!!! What a boost to my faith to see God working in such tangible ways. To think, not too many Sundays ago we were getting pretty grim news from the doctors....people got busy praying, and God was faithful to hear our cries!!! Thank you for sharing your family's journey with us. Love, Bob and Nancy Jackson
Sunday was a GREAT day. My transfers (lifts) out of the car, into the wheel chair, through the doors, into the chair, into the bathroom were all conducted with the expertise they taught me in the Rehab facility. That was great ... but the thing I appreciated the most was to see La Donna's eyes light up as I brought her into our house and then hear her say, "THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!" Evidently I passed the good-housekeeping contest, and that really pleased me.
Audi was there to help, and she prepared the lunch and supper for us. Lori and Dave came over and Lori fixed Mom's hair (to Mom's great relief). Garrett Cathcart and his girl friend (Kari) came to visit Grandma and we had a wonderful afternoon.
And I got Mom back to Riverview Hospital before they sent the cops after me!
The 8 hour furlough was a great success and we both feel confident about being able to manage things when we are finally released from the Hospital Rehab Facility.
Like our Bishop Woodie White says, "God is good all of the time. All the time God is good."

Monday, February 18th -- More good news! La Donna did 240 feet on the hemiwalker (4 trips of 60 feet each) today. She also stood on her weak foot and lifted her strong foot up on a step 20 times. She is learning to put more and more weight on the affected leg (strengthening her weak muscles and preparing her to stand and walk with balance).
Visitors today included our friends (Bud and Mary Lou Moore, Radim Balcar, and Lindsay Shelton). We are grateful for all the friends who care and have prayed for her.
185 Get Well Cards are pasted up on the walls in her room (Hallmark wishes to thank all of you for keeping them in business). We are running out of wall space, so they will either have to invent more wall space or we will have to take some of the cards down and bring them home.
La Donna's next trip home will be Thursday morning when the Occupational Therapist will come to do a home evaluation and inform us of any changes that need to be made in our house to ease her transition.
Fantastic!!!!!! Looking good, all of you. :) We are so glad to hear of the fantastic progress. As you said, God is good. How could He not hear prayers for such a good and faithful servant. Keep up the hard work LaDonna. Love to all.

Poppo...I'll only disagree with you on one thing. Mom and I talked about this so SHE rules! You said we either needed to find morewall space OR take the cards down to make room for more. Mom and I decided that when the walls were filled up, IT WAS TIME TO GO HOME for good!!
Love ya...Audi
We just came across your blog and wanted to tell LaDonna we are sending her big smiles and get well wishes. And...you look FABULOUS :-)
