Great NEWS ... and Great PROGRESS --
La Donna's physical therapist (Shannon) brought in a wheeled cane for her to try out, and with it she made a wonderful transition in her walking ability. Her balance is much better and she is able to walk good distances without help (except to have a helper walking along side her to make sure she doesn't lose it).
Thursday night we traveled to Anderson to have dinner with some friends. She walked with her cane all the way into the restaurant (and back out again after dinner). Her friends sat in their car in astonishment to see her walk as she did.
Tuesday we had a family conference and Dr. Ed Haskins (head of the Hook Rehab Outpatient Facility) noted her progress and approved her for at least another month of therapy there. While her speech has improved, her right arm and hand have been very slow in making progress (and she is concerned about that). She has been taught how to stand at the kitchen sink and perform kitchen duties (to the delight of her husband), and she is able to count out her medications and take them with supervision.
We are grateful to God and to the Therapists at Hook Rehab for the progress she is making. We are thankful also for your prayers and concern. Any doubt about how much people care about her? Just look at the count of hits on this blog ... way over 3000!

Audi ... Great to get the update on your mom's progress. She looks absolutely radiant in that foto you included in the update. Glad to read that the wheeled cane is helpful. Now that I've been out of the rehab arena in my professional life for several years, I must admit that I'm not familiar with that type of cane. I don't want to make extra work for you, Audi [you certainly don't need that as busy as you are]; but in the next update perhaps you might includ a shot with a closer view of the cane for this curious (and interested) friend.
Again, thanks for the update; and give a TN hug to your lovely Mom and handsome Dad from your old (and I mean "old") boss.
BTW, Elly and I are having a wonderful bit of R&R over here on the island of Kauai. It is such a lovely spot on God's created earth and we're so greatful to be here.
Love in Christ ... Bill
Dad...Nice job on the update. Looks like I got credit for writing it, though!
We are proud of Mom and You. During Jack's bedtime prayers tonight, we'd thanked God for both of you and Mom's improvements, too.
Lots of love... AC
Oh, ... Nelson, you wrote the update ... no problem ... just good to know that LaDonna is still moving forward - tho, much slower than she'd like, I'm sure.
Our local family is beginning to talk up a family trip up to Cincinnati, Crawfordsville, and Lebanon this spring with our oldest daughter and hubby and their two little ones, along with Oma and PawPaw B, of course.
I'd sure love to introduce y'all to at least half of the Berry Patch [the TN crew] if/when we do. Let's hold that thought; and maybe we can make it happen. ...
Blessings (and more cyberhugs) ...
:>) ... Bill
